The main objective of a golf GPS system is to present players with distances to all kinds of objects on a golf course, particularly to the green in play. Using state of the global positioning satellites, instantaneous information is constantly tracked against a comprehensive map of the golf course. Yardage to the greens front, center, and back, water hazards, bunkers and fairway boundaries are calculated. As this technology has become more accepted amongst golfers, the number of golf GPS systems offered to them has also grown.
